Meet Attorney Walt

Years of Experience Representing Wisconsin’s Landlords

Being a lawyer can seem glamorous, but the reality can be much grittier.

My clients are often at their witt’s end dealing with problem tenants. All too often the tenants I have to deal with turn out to be the kind of people who will lie to your face without batting an eye. Although evictions can be hard, I believe in justice and I do what I do to make the system work.

Elite Legal Education

I was fortunate to attend New York University School of Law, in the heart of Manhattan’s Greenwich Village. Attending a top ten law school like NYU law gives you an edge by teaching you not only what the law is, but also the underlying policy choices that shape our laws.

Although I love New York, two hurricane strikes on my Jersey City apartment in two successive years helped me decide to move back to Milwaukee after graduating from law school in 2013.

Extensive Courtroom Experience

I have, for better or worse, spent a huge portion of my adult life in courtrooms across Wisconsin.

During my first appearance in traffic court, I shook with nervous energy, and had no idea where to even stand in line. Eight and a half years later I have appeared in court countless times.

Over the last five years, I have filed and prosecuted hundreds of eviction actions across Southeast Wisconsin. In the courtroom, I help my clients present their case by focusing on the issues the judge cares about, and exposing the truth through my relentless questioning style.

Global Citizen

Growing up in the Milwaukee area, I attended Milwaukee German Immersion School and Milwaukee School of Languages before I had the opportunity to spend my junior year of high school studying abroad in Schwerin, Germany, a quiet state capital remarkably similar to Madison.

Back from Europe, I decided to change course. While attending college at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, I started taking Chinese, and eventually spent the summer studying abroad in Tianjin, China, where I was one of the first foreign interns to work at Tianjin TV, a local tv network guarded by its own military regimen.

After graduating from Madison, I returned to China to teach English in Shenzhen, China’s Tech and Manufacturing Hub.

In law school I was Symposium Editor for the Journal of International Law and Politics. I interned at a law firm in Bangkok one summer, and flew to Austria one summer to argue a moot court case before an international panel.

During my years of practicing law in Milwaukee, I have represented clients from all over the world. I know what it’s like to be an expat, and am happy to represent landlords from all nations and backgrounds.

Community Ties

I’m a proud parent of five MPS Montessori students. We live in Milwaukee and love all the city has to offer. After work, I can usually be found playing pop music on the piano, biking down the Hank Aaron State Trail, working out at the Milwaukee Athletic Club, or volunteering in my faith community.
